Water sports

I'm flying in this year, so I'm not bringing my sailboat, but I plan to try to rent a kayak. Anyone else want to join me?

  1. Sorry I won't be joining you for the kayaking but I am glad you joined our blog! :-) Now we just need to get more family involved...

  2. I might be interested in kayaking, as long as we can find "knee-friendly" ones :)

  3. Hi Kathleen! I'd also like to join you. I haven't been kayaking in at least 12 years but I remember enjoying it! Do you know how much it will cost to rent a kayak?

  4. Well, we're all adults here, so I can admit that the title of this post should have been more deeply considered before entry...

  5. PK -- I suspect any kayak will be knee-friendly...so long as it's okay for your knee to get wet.

Ru -- I'm looking for prices now. I don't know quite where things are in relation to where we will be, but Kayak Branson (which is on Table Rock Lake, at some marina) charges $25...per day, I would assume, but it doesn't say. I was imagining a one-day rental...unless people get inspired, of course! If we rent 8 kayaks we get 10% off.
There are two other places -- Paddling Center and Ozark Canoe, but neither website will load. Also, the marina sez you can rent kayaks there.

So what do y'all think? Is $25 too much?

  6. When I thought kayak, I pictured one where you had to kneel in it with your feet folded under you... All the pictures I've seen though were a little more canoe-ish where you sit with your feet in front of you.

$25 for a single person kayak, yes? They make doubles too I think I saw somewhere, yes?

  7. Yes, there are doubles too, available at the same place.
Doubles are $35, triples are $40.
